Service Outage

Birdhouse experienced an outage of approximately one hour today. We’re pretty sure this was a denial-of-service attack, but aren’t yet positive. Unfortunately, both sysadmins were unavailable at the time of the outage, so the situation took a bit to rectify.

We have made the decision to move Birdhouse from a plain dedicated server to a managed dedicated server. This means we’ll soon be in a situation where techs at the datacenter are dedicated to the goal of 100% uptime, eliminating the possibility that downtime occurs without Birdhouse admins available to take care of the situation.
